About The Department

  • The Department was started in the year 1988
  • Physics is offered as one of the optional subject for B.Sc students with combinations

  • Building Strong edifice of learning Physics that enables students to excel in the domain and contribute the development of science.

  • To provide quality education in Physics through effective teaching, practical training, and innovative learning methods.
  • To develop scientific temper, critical thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities among students.
  • To encourage research aptitude, innovation, and lifelong learning in the field of Physics.
  • To equip students with the knowledge and skills required for higher education, research, entrepreneurship, and employment.
  • To instill ethical values, environmental awareness, social responsibility, and professional integrity through science education.
  • To promote experiential learning through laboratory work, field visits, seminars, workshops, and industry interaction.

Objectives

  • Providing the students with a broad spectrum of Physics course.
  • Develop the ability to conduct, observe, analyze and report an experiment.
  • Enhance intellectual ,computational , experimental communicational and analytical skills of the students.
  • Providing modern techniques in Physics.
  • Enhance the ability of the students to seek, acquire and process the data sources from library and internet.

Best Practices of the Department

  • Assignment of mini projects on electronics to the students in group.
  • Conducting rare experiments, beyond the curriculum for the benefit of advanced learners.
  • Propagating basic science education at school level by advanced learners under the guidance of staff.
  • Regular teacher-student interactions.Preparation of Charts related to Circuit components and advanced topics indeed to increase the practical skills.
  • Feedback mechanisms.Servicing our laboratory equipments and attending to minor repairs of electrical and electronic items in the college.

Aim

  • To Foster a deeper interest and understanding of Physics among the students of Physics beyond the standard curriculum, promoting both academic and personal growth.
  • Inspire a passion for Physics through engaging activities and discussions, making learning enjoyable and relevant.
  • To provide opportunities to explore Physics concepts in greater depth, going beyond the textbook through experiments, projects, and guest lectures.
  • To provide information about opportunities to explore various Physics-related fields, potentially sparking interest in research or specialized areas.

The Physics Club of JSS College for Women “COSMOS CLUB” is a Student’s club initiated and dedicated to foster interest towards Physics and its development and to enable the learning of physics more enjoyable through

  • Guest lectures by Subject experts and Industry representatives.
  • Field Visits/ Research Lab Visit
  • Hands-on Theoretical/Practical Activity.
  • Demonstration of Experiments.
