JSS College for Women

Research

Research, as the highest pursuit of knowledge, is accorded prime importance by the college. Faculty members and students are motivated to take up research projects by sanction of grants, new facilities, publications and other incentives that include extra increments and recognitions. The college has a research centre which is approved by University of Mysore. The college brings out bi-annual research Journal JSSCW Quest, which is a multilingual and multi-disciplinary journal. The college has a research policy that guides all research related activities. The research ethics committee monitors the ethical standards of the research outputs.

About the Research Centre:

The JSS Research Centre at JSS College for Women is an approved research centre under the University of Mysore and supports faculty members and research scholars pursuing Ph.D. and research activities. The college places significant emphasis on research through its Research and Development Cell, research publications, and infrastructure support.

Vision

The JSS Research Centre’s vision is to promote knowledge creation, innovation, and quality research among faculty and students through:

  • Research guidance and Ph.D. supervision
  • Research grants and projects
  • Publications and conferences
  • Research ethics monitoring
  • Library, ICT, and Wi-Fi facilities for scholars

Mission

To promote excellence in research and innovation by conducting high-quality, ethical, and interdisciplinary research that addresses societal, scientific, and technological challenges, while fostering collaboration, knowledge dissemination, and capacity building for sustainable development.

Objectives

  • To promote multidisciplinary research in science, humanities, languages, commerce, management and social sciences.
  • To create a rich intellectual and conducive environment for collaborative research among faculty and students from various departments.
  • To provide guidelines for the faculty and students.
  • To ensure maintenance of the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in all research conducted by faculty members and research scholars.
  • To establish the minimum requirement for proper conduct of research, research ethics, management of research data and materials, publication and other matters pertaining to research
  • To develop systems to detect plagiarism and to set up mechanisms to prevent plagiarism.

Recognition and Affiliations

JSS Research Centre was recognized in 2022 by the University of Mysore in four subjects. They are Commerce, Chemistry, History and English. The college has a research policy that guides all research related activities. The research ethics committee monitors the ethical standards of the research outputs. Presently 4 members of the faculty are recognized as research guides and 17 research scholars have registered for PhD programs.
