The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) is constituted as per the guidelines and regulations issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India. The cell functions to safeguard the interests of students belonging to disadvantaged groups and to ensure equal access to higher education opportunities without discrimination. The Equal Opportunity Cell works in accordance with: • University Grants Commission (UGC) Guidelines • UGC Equity Initiatives • Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 • Government of India Reservation Policies • Constitutional provisions related to equality and social justice The main purpose of establishing the cell under UGC is to create an inclusive educational environment and provide equal opportunities to all students irrespective of caste, creed, religion, gender, disability, language, or socio-economic background.

About the Equal Opportunity Cell:

The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) is established to ensure equality, inclusiveness, and a discrimination-free environment for all students, faculty, and staff members within the institution. The cell works towards creating awareness about equal opportunities irrespective of caste, religion, gender, disability, language, socio-economic background, or any other factor. The EOC is committed to promoting social justice, dignity, fairness, and equal access to education and institutional resources.

Objectives of the Equal Opportunity Cell

To ensure equal access to educational opportunities for all students. To address grievances related to discrimination or inequality. To support students belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Minority and differently-abled categories. To organize awareness programs, seminars, workshops, and counselling sessions. To promote diversity and inclusiveness on campus. To guide students regarding scholarships, government schemes, and welfare programs. To encourage gender sensitivity and social harmony. To ensure compliance with government and university guidelines regarding equal opportunity.

Functions of the Cell:

Conduct awareness programs on equality and rights. Assist students facing discrimination or harassment. Coordinate with various departments for inclusive practices. Maintain confidentiality of complaints and grievances. Facilitate accessibility support for differently-abled students. Encourage participation of students from all backgrounds in academic and extracurricular activities. Monitor implementation of equal opportunity policies. Promote ethical and respectful behaviour among students and staff.
