Rovers and Rangers
Rovers and Rangers is the senior wing of the global Scouts and Guides movement. It focuses on empowering young adults (ages 16–25) through leadership development, community service, and adventurous activities. Acting as a bridge between youth and adulthood, the program instills discipline, self-reliance, and responsible citizenship.
The Core Vision
The ultimate vision of the Rovers and Rangers movement is to build a youth organization that is value-based, self-reliant, and quality-oriented. It envisions creating active, capable leaders who are globally aware and equipped to tackle societal challenges through the effective use of modern tools and strong community values.
The Core Mission
Their mission is to contribute to the holistic development of young people so they can reach their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual potentials. The program aims to empower youth to:
- Take ownership: Gain confidence and become responsible citizens.
- Push boundaries: Participate in adventurous, character-building experiences.
- Make a difference: Actively engage in social service and community development.
Guiding Principles
The movement is rooted in three foundational principles:
- Duty to God/Higher Principles: Adherence to spiritual principles and the duties they entail.
- Duty to Others: Promoting local, national, and international peace while participating actively in the betterment of society.
- Duty to Self: Taking personal responsibility for one's own education and personal growth. [6]
Key Activities & Objectives
Locally, Rovers (for young men) and Rangers (for young women) operate extensively through colleges and universities in Mysuru and across India to achieve their goals. Their key activities include:
- Organizing blood donation drives and health awareness campaigns.
- Participating in disaster management and relief efforts.
- Promoting environmental conservation, sanitation, and national integration.

The Rovers and Rangers unit develops leadership, discipline, teamwork, and social responsibility among students through community service, adventure activities, and awareness programs.
