About The Department
Established in 1970, the Department of Sanskrit has been a cornerstone of classical language education, literary appreciation, and cultural heritage studies. Over more than five decades, the department has dedicated itself to imparting deep linguistic proficiency, philosophical inquiry, and ethical values embedded in classical Sanskrit literature, while continually adapting to the needs of modern higher education.
- To develop effective communication and spirit of Classical Language among students.
- To prepare the students to understand the importance of national integration, to improve the usage of Sanskrit and Communication Skills.
- To guide and assist student in the pursuit of knowledge in various discipliners of Indian Classical Language and Literature
- To Improve their reading and Writing Skill.
Objectives
- Linguistic Mastery: To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Sanskrit grammar (Vyakarana), linguistics, and philology to ensure proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Literary Appreciation: To cultivate an analytical and aesthetic appreciation of Classical Sanskrit literature, including the works of Kalidasa, Bhasa, and Bhavabhuti.
- Research Excellence: To encourage original research in diverse fields such Epigraphy, Manuscriptology, and the Puranas, fostering a new generation of Sanskrit scholars.
