About The Department
- The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1988 with B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics –PCM & Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science –PMCs) at undergraduate level.
- Mathematics is being taught as one of the optional subjects in the B.Sc. program.
- 2018 onwards CBCS implemented in the department.
- NEP is implemented in the year 2020-21.
- Revised NEP is implemented in the year 2024-25
- At present the number of students in the department is 125.
- To inspire a community of learners who appreciate the beauty, power, and relevance of mathematics, fostering problem-solvers and critical thinkers who use mathematical understanding to make a positive impact on the world.
- To create an engaging environment where students explore and enjoy mathematics beyond the classroom.
- To organize activities—such as competitions, workshops, quizzes, games, and peer-learning sessions—that develop logical thinking and creativity.
- Educating the relevance of Geography in 21st century within the context of curriculum design.
- To encourage collaboration, teamwork, and a positive attitude toward problem-solving.
- To support students in applying mathematical concepts to real-life situations and other academic fields.
- To cultivate confidence, curiosity, and lifelong interest in mathematics.

About The Club
The Mathletes Club is a platform for students to explore mathematics beyond the classroom through engaging activities, problem-solving challenges, competitions, and collaborative learning. The club aims to develop logical reasoning, analytical thinking, creativity, and confidence while connecting mathematical concepts with real-world applications. Through workshops, events, and peer learning, Mathletes encourages students to strengthen their academic abilities, discover professional opportunities, and develop essential personal skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership and perseverance.
- To inspire students to develop a strong interest in mathematics and build their problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills for academic and professional success.
- Promote experiential learning through mathematical activities, competitions, workshops, and real-world problem-solving.
- Encourage innovation and creativity by inspiring students to explore new approaches and applications of mathematics.
