About The Department

The Department of English was established in 1970 with the objective of providing an impetus to the study of English Language and Literature. The department has highly qualified faculty and strives hard to achieve the mission of helping students to build knowledge of the content and methods of literary studies, English Language and Literature. The department will conduct Language lab classes for the enhancement of students’ language skills.

  • To emerge as a center of excellence in English studies, fostering intellectual growth, linguistic proficiency, and cultural empathy among women to navigate and lead in a globalized world.

  • To provide a rigorous foundation in English literature, encouraging critical inquiry and an appreciation for diverse perspectives.
  • To equip students across all disciplines with advanced language skills for professional success and effective social interaction.
  • To nurture ethical values, creative expression, and lifelong learning through the study of language and humanities.
  • To bridge the gap between traditional learning and contemporary digital literacy, ensuring every student becomes a confident communicator.

  • Manasa. N. S, III BA(HE), successfully completed the marathon organised by Karnataka AIDS Prevention Society, District AIDS Prevention and Control Centre on 27-09-2024.
  • Rakshitha R Gama, II BA(HE), won first place in ‘Poetry Writing’ at State Level Inter-College Literature Fest 2025 organised by Hindustan College, Mysuru.
